How to choose a sportsbook for baseball betting

The first thing of importance to establish is that you’re in Canada.  There are some really good sportsbooks around the world, but only a few of them have decided to cater to the Canadian market by offering Canadian Dollar accounts and Canadian friendly deposit methods like Interac Email Transfer or other e-wallets providers.  Why is this important?  If you are forced to exchange your Canadian Dollars into a betting balance in British Pounds, Euros or US Dollars, you will lose a significant portion of your deposit value and  potentially your winnings due to currency exchange fees and fluctuations.  There is no need to pay these fees or lose money to currency fluctuations, you need to know which services accept Canadian Dollar betting.  You have to be careful with this.  Don’t assume that if a brand is advertising on TV in Canada that they accept your CAD deposits for direct CAD betting.  I can tell you that there are several big brands with famous spokespeople that force you to convert your deposit into a US Dollar, Britsh Pound or Euro bankroll.  Make sure you know they accept your native currency before signing up.

The second thing to establish is how often you see yourself using your online sportsbook account to bet.  This will help you to understand whether or not you’d like to take advantage of a deposit bonus or not.  If you see yourself as a casual player, betting maybe once a week or whenever an interesting ball game comes up, then perhaps you can pad your bankroll with some free bets or a deposit bonus.  However, if you see yourself as a betting really often, perhaps several times a week, even several times a day, you may want to sign up with the betting site that consistently provides you with higher paying odds.  If you play a lot, the higher paying odds will add up over a short period of time and be worth significantly more than any sign-up bonus ever could.  It comes down to delayed gratification.  If you’re in it for the long term, go with the low juice (high odds) sports betting site.

The third thing to consider is knowing what you like to wager on.  Every site I list offers the typical betting types for baseball and most other sports.  These would be bets on moneyline, against the run line (spread) and totals (over/under).  If this is all you’re interested in, the only difference in the site offerings will be the odds pricing for each particular game.  However, when it comes to the baseball prop bets, each site has their own unique variety of what is offered and you can read about what they offer on my baseball prop betting page.

The last thing to consider in selecting a baseball sportsbook is the company’s reputation and track record.  There are scam sportsbooks sites to that essentially try to steal from their customers to varying degrees.  Some are pure scam sites that will never payout and are purely in existence to steal your cash.  Others sites may not be full–on scam sites but they do operate in a manner that can be considered unfair where bettor accounts may be limited, especially if the bettor wins a lot.  Each of the sites I’ve listed have impeccable track records in operating fairly and in their payout record and all have been in business for a significant period of time and they all allow deposits and bets in Canadian Dollars.

About My Baseball Betting Listings:

Why is my list so tiny?  I only list betting companies that I consider to be the best for Canadians. Would it really make sense for me to research 20 companies and then rank them one through 20?  Would you sign up with sportsbook number 18?  Not a chance!

That’s why I try to keep things simple.  If a company fails to meet my uniquely Canadian criteria, it doesn’t get listed.

Why might a site fail to get listed?  Limited baseball betting offerings, poor payout record like withholding player funds or placing limits on the accounts of winning players, not offering CAD wagering or not offering mobile betting.

Each site I list has satisfied my review criteria, however, they are each different in their service offerings.  So read the reviews and choose based on your own preferences and requirements, not a phoney rating scheme.  If you like to shop for the best odds, it might make sense to sign up with more than one so that you can maximise your winnings.
